Musing about Muse in Concert

Muse. Good band. Shitty fans.

Allo! Something flipped my bitch switch today on my way home from work. I am aggravated. So I’m listening to Bleeding Through. Had an interesting weekend…

So Saturday night Crystal and I along with Mr. & Mrs. 1985 went to see our new favorite band Muse at the Electric Factory in Philly. Muse was excellent but I did not fully enjoy myself. Here is why: So lets start with who Muse is for those of you who don’t know. Muse is a band who is a ripoff of Radiohead. Except they’re not shitty like Coldplay. They’re good and interesting, FRESH if you will. Used to be that America never even had heard of them. As you may or may not recall, I was speaking of their greatness about a year ago thanks to a friend I had at the time. So at the beginning of the Summer Muse’s latest album comes out in the USA. They get some play on Sirius nothing major and K-Rock was playing them here and there but nothing over kill. So basically the public that listens to Mindless FM radio has now been exposed to Muse and knows of them. Muse comes to Philly, along with the mindless morons of the universe. First off when you go to a Metal, Punk, or Hardcore show you know what’s going to happen. Everyone knows the rules and what’s going to go down. There’s gonna be pushing and shoving up in the front and usually the people in the back will be fine. Sometimes fights break out, people get beat, but usually it happens all in the front. But this stuff is expected and people who go to shows like this know that these things could conceivably occur. The Muse concert, who is there? Frat guys, sorority girls, faux-Punks, people going to a concert for their first time, and your smattering of other concert inepts. Thing I’m being harsh? Lets recap the nights events shall we? First off, We have a mildly fat girl drop to her knees in front of us. Apparently she took to much E and her friends weren’t exactly helping her out too much. That was annoying and overly dramatic but Muse provided an excellent soundtrack to that moment. Eventually they carried her away and her friends later debated on whether or not they should go to the Hospital with her. Idiots. Secondly all the people around us having epileptic seizures around us, oh wait I’m sorry, they were dancing. I apologize, all the DANCERS around us were fuckin just wastes of space usually rocking some sort of wife beater and a studded belt. Yea, Punk rock. Third group your Frat/Sorority/First Time Concert goers. Sorry guys but the Dave Matthews concert was this summer. The pot smoking, slow arm butterfly dancing, and pink polo shirts should have been left at Giants stadium. Metal horns you say? FOR MUSE?!?!?! METAL HORNS FOR MUSE?! No one would EVER give METAL HORNS TO MUSE???? HAHA but they did! Numerous times. In fact there was dancing along with the metal horns. So metal that Muse. That’s why I like em. And finally yes one more to go, the people who thought they were at a hoe down. For the last 20 minutes of the show I had the fucker behind me CLAPPING INCISIVELY RIGHT IN MY RIGHT EAR like he was at a fuckin HOE DOWN! Please someone shoot this man…

So the moral of this story. I might question my attendance to any concert of any band that has been put on the FM radio at any time in a small venue. Why? Because too many of today’s “mainstream America” kids don’t know the rules of the road and when you don’t know the rules of the road, you get run off into a ditch and you’re left for dead…

In other news I have a hot outfit for my parents Anniversary dinner on Friday. I also want an X-Box and Halo 2. My birthday is Tuesday…

Long live my beard…

Till next time…”In this forgotten space race under my control…”
