A Tribute to ‘NSYNC

Joey Fatone touches Cameras
Today marks the first entry in a new series that I am going to be starting here at SP.net this series is called “A SeanPiotrowski.net Tribute to…” these tributes will be an acknowledgement of the positive impact that they have had on my life and those people around me. The first tribute is to the world’s most famous boy band, ‘NSYNC. ..

You see even though I like metal and real punk music and the lot there was a special place in my heart for all of the boy bands. Back in a time when you would listen to about 45 minutes of straight boy band madness on B98.5 they brought us fun danceable beats with often silly but easily remember-able choruses. It was not uncommon for any of us to belt out into boy band song while walking through the Ocean County Mall or while walking the halls of Toms River High School North. We all did it and we all got some fun out of it. After that we all went to college and it wasn’t uncommon on a drunken Thursday night to put on some *NSYNC with drunken girls in your room and sing and get down with your bad self. Some of the funniest moments in my college career involved around some boy band song in some way. Whether it was singing a drunkenly modified version of a Savage Garden song to 1985 letting him know that “I knew you were my roommate before I met you”, belting out the correct note at the end of “The Call”, or rapping along to the rap during Five’s “Baby when the lights go out”; there was always some fun to be had if the boy bands were in town…

So you must be saying, “Sean shouldn’t you be tribute-ing all of the boy bands and not just *NSYNC?” and you’re probably right, while boy bands as a whole have given a lot to our society, both good and bad things, I feel it is *NSYNC who has given us the most. Granted they did not have the greatest boy band song of all time (This award goes to the Backstreet Boys for their wonderful ditty, “The Call”) they still have given us the most when compared to the other bands. I’d like to at this time acknowledge each of the members of *NSYNC individually for the contributions to our world…

Who is this guy?
Chris Kirkpatrick – Can anyone name one thing he’s done? Oh yea he was the only idiot that got married while at the peak of his success. SMART MOVE way to be the only guy in *NSYNC to not cash in on the Ass train…

Lance Bass
Lance Bass – I can’t think of any song that your performed with *NSYNC that featured you in a prominent spot. However you did give us hours of entertainment when you were going to be one of the first civilians in space. After all we have all thought you were a space alien for quite sometime now and the face that you were going to go into space just proved that you were trying to reunite yourself with outer space your one true home…

Again with the touching of the Camera. What gives?
Joey “The Fat One” Fatone – Joey I can’t remember one song where you were featured either but you gave us hours of fat jokes and hours of laughs at your expense. You also gave people who enjoyed “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” entertainment and let us not forget your stint on Broadway in RENT. Your contribution to society while greater then Lance or Chris’ is still not enough to put you in the upper echelon but it still deserves our respect and acknowledgement…

J.C.
J.C. Chasez – You were one of the two main pieces to *NSYNC without you they would have never gone anywhere. You’ve given us your childhood with the MMC, you’ve given us a failure of a solo career, and you’ve given us your best solo effort during the wonderful movie “Drumline”. For all of these things you have truly given society many many things to be thankful for. In my eyes alone just the fact that you were associated with Drumline makes you a hero in my book. J.C. thank you…

J-Timb
Justin Timberlake – You took Britney’s virginity, you took Cameron Diaz from us all, you showed us Janet Jackson’s breast on national TV, and you gave us “Cry Me a River”. You my friend have shown the world so much and for that we are forever in your debt. You are the lynch pin for a *NSYNC reunion. We know you’re solo career is very successful and you do not need a reunion but your other 4 band mates need you and the rest of the world needs you with *NSYNC. Do not make them reunite a la the Spice Girls it would be a travesty. So Justin keep hangin’ with Pharrell and makin’ hot solo jams but remember your roots and Thank You for being the greatest…

So now as I venture back to “Straight Land” I would like to remind you that even though the boy bands stifled good music on the radio we still had a blast with them around. So for that I feel this tribute is warranted…

Till next time… “Now the game is over…”

  1. Little known fact about me … I’ve seen *NSYNC three times in concert … and I’ve met them once.

In high school, my friends and I would leave each other by saying, “Bye, bye, bye.”

And you and Miriam should sing 5ive’s (not Five, Sean… get it right). She knows the rap by heart. We played that song at least once a month senior year. No lie.

  2. ok, i have to comment here. reading this post has me filled with nostalgia of the time that sean, kt pags and i, sang the call while semi drunk at tcnj at the top of our lungs. later that night, sean beat puking in the bathroom, witnessed some kid having sex, and sweat his guts out in lacey’s bed. my college years were quite dull, and this i recall, as one of the most fun nights i had. sean, do you remember that kid bill who was crazy and that tall kid noah who used to remind me of you?

and nsync, i too saw them three times. but i never met them.

sean – i know we dont talk anymore. but until the time that you decide to talk me again, let us laugh and remember the night of “the call” starring me, kt, you and aj, kev, brian, nick, and of course, howie

  3. Nsync es lo mejor aunque esten separados seguiran siendo el mejor grupo de pop del mundo. Adoro a justin porque es espectacular en todo lo que hace.
