Getting Things Done the Bill Gates Way

1985 has been harping on me about GTD, otherwise known as Getting Things Done. He,like a lot of the rest of the tech savvy world, seem to think that human beings by default are incapable of being organized on their own and that it is a skill that needs to be taught and nurtured. I often turn my nose up to 1985 whenever he talks about GTD. 1985 always follows that up with, “Well how do you keep organized then?” and I always have difficulty explaining that. Its just something I’ve always done and its something that has evolved with me over a long period of time. Anyway I saw this article today written by Bill Gates about how he gets stuff done and in all honesty I see a lot of similarities between our organizational styles. The only real difference is I do not receive anywhere near the amount of e-mail he does, so a lot of his e-mail organizational stuff he discusses doesn’t make sense for someone like me. However for people like some of my coworkers who receive 100s of e-mails a day it might help them out…

Anyway I dedicate this post to 1985 and his quest to “Get Things Done”…

  1. I heard a rumor that 1985 actually coined the phrase “Get ér done!” but then sold the rights to Larry the Cable guy for some Pemicin peppered, smoked beef jerky, a chewbacca pez dispenser, and a catalytic converter for a 1982 Ford F150. Now all 1985 can use is “Get things done”. Is this true?
